Accelerate Renewables

Renewable energy is cheaper and rolling out fast, but not fast enough to reach the resilient and diversified energy system Australia needs for future prosperity in a hotter and more fractious world.

This site will explore what’s stuck and what needs to change to accelerate renewables.

We will get in touch when the site goes live, and also send occasional updates as the research develops.

What the site will cover

The development of this resource follows months of consultation across the renewable energy sector, from large investors to community energy proponents. The website is dedicated to them, and will cover:

  1. Why Australia needs to accelerate renewablesThe case for a new energy system, why Australia has everything we need to create it, and what is at stake if we don’t act with urgency.
  2. How renewables are stuck, and how we unstick themFindings from an industry review of where deployment is held up for different asset and investor types.
  3. Who can actually drive changeProfiles the governments and their agencies, developers, financiers, industry bodies, community groups and Traditional Owners that are key to accelerating renewables.
  4. How renewables are being fundedPublic capital commitments tracked in dollars, and project pipelines tracked in megawatts.
  5. What needs to happen nextA guide to the necessary interventions and a live interactive map where the industry ranks the interventions that matter most.
  6. Latest news and researchExpertly curated research and tools for driving change, and the latest news on renewable energy deployment.
  7. How to get involvedWays to contribute, use the findings, or put them to work.
